Your job as a certified public accountant will be to handle various clients finances. You may be asked to merely give financial advice to a family or you may end up preparing income statements and balance sheets for large corporations. You may end up assisting small businesses with their accounting systems, financial statements, income tax returns, tax planning, and investment decisions.[1] You will constantly be doing research, such as finding out what a family's past financial records and spending tendencies have been. For a corporation you would have to look into what their budget has been in years past and how that reflects on the present so that you can give them advice for the future. You will also need to pay attention to how the market fluctuates so that you can give accurate, helpful advice. You will also be keeping track of our very own finances here at this firm. If the work that you are completing here ever seems overwhelming just ask one of your fellow accountants and they would be happy to help a fellow coworker. They would also tell you that most of the years work can be easily managed until you get into tax season when you will get the majority of your work. For instance, if you were to work with a professional athlete their taxes could get increasingly complicated since taxes have to do majorly with where you work. In the case of a professional athlete, they play in different states all over the country, therefore their taxes are affected greatly due to so many different states' rules and regulations for taxes affecting their payroll.[2] However as previously stated, you will have coworkers who are willing to help should you ever come across a problem.
